Hello, everyone! I'm Arslan Rafiq, and today I’m sharing my experience of visiting Thandiani during my university days.
Thandiani, which literally means "very cold," is a hill station in the Galyat area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. It’s situated about 37.5 kilometers (23.3 mi) northeast of Abbottabad, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Thandiani stands tall at about 2,750 meters (9,020 ft) above sea level, offering stunning views of the surrounding snowy peaks and lush valleys.
My Snowy Sojourn in Thandiani
During one winter break, my friends and I decided to visit Thandiani, eager to experience the cold and the snow. The journey from Abbottabad to Thandiani was picturesque, with the road winding through dense forests and offering glimpses of the majestic Himalayas. As we ascended, the air grew colder, and the landscape turned white with fresh snow.
Upon arriving in Thandiani, we were greeted by a serene and quiet ambiance. The snow-covered hills and the clear, crisp air were a refreshing change from our usual university environment. However, I soon realized that while Thandiani is beautiful, it might not be the best place for an extended stay.
A Short Stay Adventure
For my experience, Thandiani is more suited for a short stay rather than a prolonged visit. The area is relatively small, and after exploring the main spots, there isn’t much left to do. However, it is perfect for a quick getaway to enjoy the snow and the breathtaking views before moving on to another destination.
During our time in Thandiani, we made the most of the snow. We had snowball fights, built snowmen, and even attempted to sled down some gentle slopes. The joy and laughter shared with friends in such a beautiful setting made the trip memorable.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Thandiani is a hidden gem in the Galyat area, perfect for a brief visit to enjoy the cold and the snow. While it may not offer enough activities for a long stay, its serene beauty and tranquil atmosphere make it worth a visit. So, if you’re planning a trip to the Galyat region, consider stopping by Thandiani for a quick snow-filled adventure before moving on to your next destination.
Thank you for reading about my snowy sojourn in Thandiani. I hope my experience helps you plan your visit to this beautiful hill station!
